Love it. Built in cover seems so obvious now
By Troy Edwards
This product has one of those twist that make you say, “Well, that just seems obvious. I wonder why no one has done that before”.
The built in cover (on a hinge, so it’s never lost), keeps the slicer sharper longer. It also protects other items where you keep your slicer stored.
A clever twist on a common household item. Highly recommended.

A bit better than the old standby
By C. Ayres
I have the regular apple slicer (like this but without the plastic push base) and got this one to see if there was much more to it. I have to say, no.
Apple slicers are awesome and easy to use. They are great for finicky kids who don’t want to do the work of biting the apple to bits (or adults for that matter). And, lets be honest, most of us ARE that lazy. I love using slicers to speed up work to make pies or have a nice PB and apple snack. The only thing I don’t like about these useful gadgets is trying to clean the blades.
This model helps a bit with that aspect by dislodging the core and most of the pieces that get stuck on the bottom of the (sharp!) blades. It is somewhat like getting popcorn stuck in your teeth: you floss and brush and do all sorts of things but still end up having a piece dislodge at some odd moment a day or so later! Simple rinsing (like dental work) does not do it. It also has that bicycle spoke thing going on that leaves a small point where it is hard to scrub out the bits. Dishwasher safe, yes. Dishwasher clean, not so much.
If you’re worried about cutting your finger dislodging the core or are annoyed at the bits of skin that get stuck in the bottom when you slice (apple skin, not yours), than this is a good choice. Otherwise, it is really only a tiny bit better than the older versions available. It does have a snazzy color though!

The perfect tool for the job
By J. Roberts
A good slicer should be a) sharp, b) easy and comfortable in the hands and c) cut through the fruit cleanly.
Typically, slicers can ace two of these – most are easy and comfortable in the hands, but the sharpest ones stay sharp by never quite going all the way through the fruit and the ones that do cut through completely dull quickly.
This slicer solves the problem rather ingeniously. You slider the sharp cutting blades straight through the fruit and then flip over the plastic lid to pop them out the rest of the way. It works on all manner of apples and pears. It’s only “flaw” is that it can’t magically make it easy to cut through crooked apples, but the person who figures out the solution to that problem probably hasn’t been born yet.
Excellent, excellent, tool.
